Tony Coveney retires from the Club.

An End of An Era at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club
Thursday 24th January 2008

After 40 years of service and commitment to Killarney Golf and Fishing Club, Tony Coveney, one of the longest serving Club Pro's in the country, retires from the Club he first came to in the 1960's.

Tony has been an institution at the Club, providing both members and visitors with valuable service through his well stocked Pro Shop, with a full range of the world's leading brands and also through his years of dedicated coaching of all levels of golfers at the Club.

Last night, Thursday 24th January, there was a special dinner in his honour, with the Board of Directors, at the Killarney Park Hotel, where a presentation was made to Tony by the Club in appreciation of his years of service to Golf and to Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. Also present at the dinner was Tom Prendergast, former Secretary/Manager who recently retired as well as Maurice O'Meara, recently appointed General Manager at the Club.

While making the presentation to Tony, Niall Reddy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Killarney Golf Club Ltd stated "Tony has played a major part in bringing the Club to the status it has today as one of Ireland's leading Golf Clubs and he will be very much missed at the Club. We all wish him and his family the very best in the future and know that he will be no stranger to Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, which has been his home for the past 40 years."
